On November 7th, 2009 I hosted a small get together for members of the American Sewing Guild representing the Nassau Queens Chapter, the Maryland Chapter and the Virginia Chapter. Later that same day members from patternreview.com stopped by. It really was a pleasure talking with so many sewers and sharing so many great ideas. There is nothing like creativity….thank you all for coming….and the next party is when?

Here We Go Loop-d-Loop…

Thanks to a customer “down under”, I was delighted to discover that Greenberg & Hammer, Inc was mentioned as a notion source in a book entitled “Loop-d-Loop”. This is an incredible knitter’s pattern book by Teva Durham. Loop-d-Loop is loaded with new and upbeat patterns that are exquisitely photographed by Adrian Buckmaster . Thank you Ms. Durham for allowing us to explore her vision of a new era of knitting.

Congratulations to Kitty Leech and Tracey Herman on the collaboration of their first book “The Dollies Put On A Play”. This fun filled picture book encompasses their passion for art, dolls and theatre. This book delights the heart and brings a smile to children of all ages. My title is a paraphrase of an expression said by Andy Warhol, truly one of my favorite artists. His vision of art created a sensation. His design simple, familar and his finished product overwhelming. We in the world of fashion have that same capability. My “15 Minutes”, this time, happened when i had the pleasure of meeting Nicole Smith. - Special Issues Editor for SewStylish Magazine. I had the honor of collaborating on an article in the Spring 2009 issue SewStylish Magazine called Interfacing Basics. My title is not meant to have an implyed negative connotation. Give yourself “15 Minutes” each and every day to create, to inspire and to be inspired with your world around you.

In this sixth month of 2009, we embark on yet another new chapter of Greenberg & Hammer. I am reminded of a quote by Nathaniel Parker Willis expressing his thoughts on the month of June. The title of my very first blog is one line from that quote. It represents the result of the “adventure” of moving an established company and reinventing ourselves in the Fashion District of New York City. Not a simple task by any means. Over the course of the not too distant future, you will begin to view the new look of our website… the adventure is about to begin!
