Tonessa West-Crowe has been
designing Renaissance and Medieval costumes for more than 20 years. Her
work is seen both nationally and internationally. Her designs are seen
at the New York, California, Philadelphia, Vermont and King Richard's
Renaissance Faires, the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), Medieval
Studies Restoration, Garden Angel Cosmetics (Argentina), among many other
places. She has produced costumes for Renaissance/Medieval weddings as
well.
A trained actress from the
Actor's Institute and Herbert Berghoff Studios, Ms. West-Crowe has been
deemed the "most photographed" person in the Renaissance Faires and Living
Shakespearean Theatres. She created a three-woman, Elizabethan
impromptu troupe which has performed at State University of New York Stony
Brook, entitled, "An Evening in the Drawing Room of Isabella of York". |

Ms. West-Crowe also founded a study group
called "The Gilded Pearl" which centers on the collective study of the
Renaissance period, c. 1450-1650, throughout the world. Among her many
students, she is proud of her most able apprentices, whom she decidedly
overworks: Jaqueline Kapaj (Head Apprentice), known as the trim queen, who
has designed many beautiful costumes for the SCA; and, Christopher Thompson,
tailor and costume designer extraordinaire.
Among her many other
accomplishments, i.e., artist, teacher, lecturer and performer, Ms.
West-Crowe has twice sat the most high and royal position as one of the
leaders of the the East chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (
http://www.sca.org/ and
http://www.eastkingdom.org/ ) an
international, educational and historical re-enactment organization with
chapters worldwide and members and participants of more that 80,000.
