As we start enjoying the warmer and sunnier days of summer, I wanted this window to be fun and to bring a smile to everyone…thus The Whimsical World of Charlotte Marie has once again “taking over the sewing”. While the window “gang” is putting together a suit, we put together a few more sections up and running on the website. Check it out! It is always a pleasure working with Ms. Charlotte Marie. Her enthusiasm just shines when she is creating her “world”. Charlotte Roberts is a crafter, painter, designer and art appraiser who started making whimsical animal dolls as gifts. They were baby showers and wedding decorations to be made for various friends. While working at a law firm in San Francisco, Charlotte decided to enter some of the dolls that she made as gifts to sell at a company craft fair. Before long Charlotte Marie was formed as an organization to participate in various craft shows in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. The whimsical animal dolls, rag dolls, Amish dolls and Topsy-Turvy dolls are all unique, dressed in their finest outfits. They are trimmed with lots of ribbons and lace. They are formally attired in a wedding gown, tuxedo or “down-on-the-farm” working clothes. The dolls can be specially ordered individually or as a family unit. The dolls are made from natural fibers and stuffed with hypoallergenic fiberfill with buttons and moveable parts. Facial features are hand sewn with cotton floss. “We make these dolls for the pleasure they give”, said Charlotte as she put the finishing touches on the pig’s wedding gown. Her work is truly from the heart. She also does custom work including pillows, table skirts, table runners, tea cozies, fireplace mantle covers, baby quilts and matching accessories.
