The Arctic Winds have gifted a big chill.  As I put on my fourth layer of clothing I could not help but dream of warm mid-summer nights.  A bit of spring would do just fine too!

The New Year begins with Act III of the trilogy of the celebration of dolls by Kitty Leech.  Because of her fascinations, our windows have become somewhat of an imaginary realm of fairies.  A bit supernatural…a bit magical…a bit of make believe that brings a bit of warmth to the heart.  Do believe in fairies!

The Art of Doll Making & Doll Collecting has become such a trend that we have a line of Doll Notions and Doll Trimmings to accommodate the garment construction of this fascinating art form.  Thank you Kitty for creating an opportunity to enjoy your spirit of this window.

About the Fairies
My fascination with fairies began when I was 8 years old.  That year for my birthday a neighbor gave me a copy of Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies of the Garden.  I was utterly charmed and delighted by the book and would spend hours in my mother’s garden trying to spot a fairy.   Years and years later, never having spotted a real fairy, but having been inspired by a series of Teacup Fairy photographs I saw in a magazine, I started making little fairy dolls which I would pose sitting I teacups and glasses in the china cabinet or in the Christmas tree.  Some of them have even appeared in shows as ornaments on hats and many of them I sketched as gifts for friends.  Soon after, my five nieces were born and began to grow up, and to my delight, they and their friends love putting on tutus and sparkly dressed and fairy wings and posing for me.  They have become the real fairies I searched for so long ago in my mother’s garden, and they were the inspiration for putting together this collection of fairy sketches, photographs and dolls.
